KEITH URBAN

‘GET CLOSER 2011 WORLD TOUR’
To Start in Australia with April Tour Dates
Lady Antebellum to Join Australian Tour

Australia is scheduled to be the first stop on Keith Urban’s ‘Get Closer 2011 World Tour’ which will see the multi-platinum selling artist perform to hundreds of thousands of fans in many countries across the globe – all beginning here on Friday April 8, with the multi-platinum selling Lady Antebellum joining Urban for the Australian tour as the opening act.

‘Get Closer 2011 World Tour’ will have an all-new stage production that will feature Urban’s uniquely hard-charging, captivating live performances; concert events that critics have hailed as “one of the best reasons in the world to attend a live concert”.  For ticket information go to www.keithurban.net.

Beginning in Adelaide, the ‘Get Closer 2011 World Tour’ will then head to Melbourne, and continue to Tamworth and Sydney before wrapping in Brisbane and will not only include songs from Urban’s extraordinary catalogue of hits, including ‘Better Life’, ‘You’ll Think Of Me’, ‘Days Go By’, ‘Somebody Like You’ and ‘Sweet Thing’, but will feature the debut of music from his sixth studio album ‘Get Closer’, including his current single ‘Long Hot Summer’ and first single ‘Put You In A Song’.

It is the first time that Australia has been the starting place for a Keith Urban tour and follows the recent release of ‘Get Closer’, which has already reached gold sales just a few weeks after its release. To date in Australia, Urban has sold more than half a million albums and his previous tour in December 2009 saw him play to more than 50,000 fans. In the US ‘Get Closer’ follows the multi-platinum selling success of all of Urban’s solo albums; his previous album in the US was a #1 Billboard country and pop album.

Urban is in Australia this week for a short promotional visit which includes an appearance on one of Oprah’s Australian filmed shows. It’s Urban’s second recent appearance on Oprah following his performance of first single ‘Put You In A Song’ on a US filmed episode which aired in Australia two weeks ago.

Through the years Urban’s spontaneity and captivating stage presence have resulted in one-of-a-kind concert experiences.  Whether closing his shows with a thru-the-audience trek to a waiting taxi cab outside the arena or signing and giving away a guitar while performing atop a seat back somewhere in the stands, Urban has given his audiences what one critic described as “a show which you’d be hard-pressed to top in country – or rock”.

Urban and Lady Antebellum have previously toured together in the US but this is the first time Lady Antebellum has toured Australia. Lady Antebellum’s sophomore album, ‘Need You Now’ was recently certified triple platinum in the United States, with sales of more than three million and three consecutive #1 singles. Locally, the hit single ‘Need You Now’ and the album have both surpassed gold sales, with the album reaching #12 on the ARIA chart.

Tickets for the ‘Get Closer 2011 World Tour’ are on sale Friday 21st January, 2011, 9am.
