GAINS ADDS AT K-LOVE, AIR 1 AND WAY FM

After a successful 2009 release that spawned the mega-hit single “What Faith Can Do,” Kutless will be releasing a new studio album titled Believer next month on February 28 (BEC Recordings). The album is produced by Grammy-nominated Chris Stevens as well as David Garcia (TobyMac, Mandisa, Carrie Underwood) and Dave Lubben (worship leader, Kutless). Click here to view the album cover and tracklisting.

You can listen to the first single here as well as hear the band perform it live here.

With over two million albums sold, a RIAA Gold-selling album, AC Song of the Year in 2010, and 11 No. 1 radio singles, Kutless has transformed from that new rock band from Oregon to the one new bands look up to, the band whose music is all over the radio in multiple formats and on major tours.

Believer finds Kutless using a decade of growth to deliver an expertly crafted set of songs with as much diversity in the music as there is consistency in the message.

Believer is poised to become a career highlight from Kutless. The title itself is particularly important. On this album, believers will find a deeply relevant message: What does it really mean to surrender to Christ? How does this relationship change you every day? How does it define you? It is only now, after all these years, that Kutless is able to explore these vital issues.

Frontman Jon Micah Sumrall declares, “We’ve made a huge leap in the quality of the songwriting. It’s diverse – there are things I love on the upbeat side (heavier rocking moments), and things I love about the intimate worshipful moments. I really feel like this newest record shows a real maturity from over the years of what we’ve learned, what we’ve brought together.”

It only takes one listen to realize that Kutless has really come of age musically. They’ve determined their style instead of chasing the latest trend, and it shows.

fter being established as one of the industry’s premier worship leaders with her Dove Award-winning, self-titled debut, Kari Jobe continues to serve as a worship pastor at Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas, and will release her highly anticipated follow-up album, Where I Find You (Sparrow) on January 24, 2012.

Produced by Ed Cash (Chris Tomlin, Chris August) and Matt Bronleewe (Natalie Imbruglia, Josh Wilson), Where I Find You, which includes Kari’s new hit radio single “We Are,” is an engaging departure from her previous effort—both sonically and thematically speaking

Rather than simply emphasizing the beauty found in God’s presence, Where I Find You is a clarion call for listeners to experience His presence to the fullest. And not surprisingly, the accompanying soundtrack is just as bold with a buoyant mix of fresh musical textures and timbres.

“After singing about the importance of making time for intimate worship on my first album, I wanted to take the next step on Where I Find You,” Kari shares. “These songs come from such a honest place of praising God for what He’s done—and what He’s continuing to do in our lives—because of His grace and goodness.

“Ultimately, it’s about declaring who He is and enjoying the simplicity of knowing the Lord is near,” she continues. “He’s for us, He loves us, and sometimes, we need to just stop, enjoy His presence and take that in.”

While recording the album, Kari says she was often reminded of that very truth—a theme that resonates through the lyrics of “Here,” a reminder to press pause, even when our culture insists we constantly keep moving.

“There were many instances when we had to stop whatever we were working on because I needed to go outside, take a walk and have my own time with God for a few minutes,” Kari remembers. “Again and again, I was so overtaken by how present He was while we were recording, and it’s my hope and desire that people really feel the strength and intercession that was taking place while I worked on the album.”

Another decidedly counter-cultural idea that resonates in these new songs is how God never lets believers, including worship leaders, get too comfortable in their faith or permanently reside on the proverbial spiritual mountaintop.

“This past year has been the season of being completely uncomfortable and going through things I didn’t understand that were really hard,” Kari shares. “I was literally having to hold on in my heart and trust He had everything in control. You can even hear that a little in my vocals, especially on songs like ‘Love Came Down,’ ‘Run To You,’ and ‘What Love Is This.’ It was a season that stretched me.”

Even through all the growing pains, however, Kari says she was continually reminded of God’s faithfulness.

“I think there are times as believers when we feel entitled and that life shouldn’t be hard. We live in this culture of convenience that says we can do everything ourselves and find all the answers on Google,” Kari says. “But if we can learn to fall more in love with the Lord and trust Him in the middle of every storm, we build our endurance to keep running the race.”

Naturally, these declarations of God’s faithfulness couldn’t help but make their way onto her album.

“‘We Are’ is a song of commission for us as believers,” says Kari, “to be reminded of what we’ve been called to, and that is to impact people’s lives in everything we do.”

In the track “One Desire,” which she co-wrote with Jason Ingram, Kari uses simple, heartfelt language that reminds her of one of her favorite worship anthems when she was young.

“During our writing session, Jason and I were talking about the simplicity of worship; how it doesn’t always have to be so ornate,” she explains. “When I was a kid, I remember how much I loved singing the song ‘I Love You, Lord’ because it was this sweet, simple song straight from Scripture.”

In stark contrast to the straightforward worship of “One Desire,” another key track, the aforementioned “What Love is This,” features powerful imagery of the Centurion soldier’s reaction to discovering that Jesus was the Son of God after He’d been crucified.

“I often think about what it would’ve been like to experience that and to say ‘Truly, you are the son of God,’” Kari shares. “You realize you were part of His death, you were the one of the people who’d nailed Him to a cross. He must have felt so incredibly broken—to believe the lie and then experience the truth. I really think that’s like all of us. We’ve got to have the perspective that without the Lord’s presence, we’re all in darkness, and ‘What Love Is This’ is my love song to the Lord for His love song for my life.”

Also serving as a grounding force for Kari when life gets complicated is her tight-knit Texas family. Although she turned 30 this past year, she still considers being a daughter one of “life’s greatest blessings.”

What’s also been a blessing is a new dimension to her ministry. In addition to ministering in churches, arenas, theaters, festivals and conferences across the globe, Kari has also found another outlet for sharing God’s love in partnering with the A21 Campaign, an organization dedicated to abolishing human trafficking in the 21st century.

“I’ve become really invested in that ministry and strongly believe that we all have to play a role and do our part to fight against the modern form of slavery that affects 27 million people and growing,” Kari says. “It’s so incredibly dark, and I feel a responsibility to do what I can. Most of these victims are girls like me, and I can’t imagine what life would be like to be stuck in that place.”

Along with her sister, Kris, Kari has created an exclusive line of jewelry and t-shirts where all the proceeds go to the cause of bringing an end to human trafficking and injustice.

“Whether I’m participating in an effort like this or leading worship, it’s all about making a difference,” Kari concludes. “That’s the reason I’m doing what I’m doing at this specific moment—to see God’s name lifted high, to encourage the hurt and the broken and to remind everyone to draw close to Him because He really, truly does care about each and every one of His children.”

And that’s ultimately the message behind Where I Find You, enjoying the beauty of God’s presence, praising him with your whole heart and letting your light shine in a world that needs to experience the true grace and hope found only in Jesus.

SWITCHFOOT RETURN TO AUSTRALIA TO PLAY SOUNDWAVE AND THEIR OWN HEADLINE SHOWS

San Diego heroes, Switchfoot, are set to return to Australia next month for a string of appearances at the national Soundwave Festival, as well as a string of headlining shows in Brisbane on Friday 24th February at The Tivoli, Sydney on Monday 27th February at The Factory and Thursday 1st March at The Prince Bandroom in Melbourne.

Following the release of their 2003 album, ‘The Beautiful Letdown’ (a double-platinum album that straddled the line between sacred and secular rock music) Switchfoot hit the mainstream and produced two Top 20 hits with ‘Dare To Move’ and ‘Meant To Live.’ They have not stopped since.

Releasing a string of albums since then, Switchfoot return to our shores in February following their latest offering, ‘Vice Verses’ which has sold over 125,000 copies and includes the latest single ‘Dark Horses’ currently Top 10 Alternative Rock Radio. With its play on words, Vice Verses, the title of Switchfoot’s new album, coherently suggests the album’s theme: everything has two sides. “Every blessing comes with a set of curses,” singer-guitarist Jon Foreman sings on the title track, all the while wondering if “there’s a meaning to it all.” That theme runs through the album’s 12 songs and is even reflected in the album’s black and white cover.

When Switchfoot released the Grammy Award winning Hello Hurricane in 2009, it symbolized a rebirth of sorts. After a good run with Columbia Records, the band self-financed the building of its own studio and the recording of the album and released it on lowercase people via Atlantic Records.

If 2009′s Hello Hurricane suggested a new chapter in the musical book that is Switchfoot, consider Vice Verses to be a sequel of sorts. Foreman says the album is “a brand new chapter, but would not exist without Hello Hurricane” and refers to it as a “surgical procedure where everything is clean-cut.” Like Hello Hurricane, it was recorded at the band’s own studio, where the comfort level is now much higher since the guys have been able to work out all of the space’s kinks.

The San Diego band first formed in 1996 when Foreman and his brother Tim put the group together. Butler says the band members were all friends from their days together at high school. At the time, the San Diego indie rock scene was thriving as bands such as Rocket from the Crypt and Drive Like Jehu had just started to gain national attention.

In keeping true to its San Diego roots, the band annually hosts Switchfoot Bro-Am, an event that benefits the San Diego-based StandUp for Kids, a national non-profit helping homeless and at risk youth. The Bro-Am includes a surf contest, charity auction, and festival concert. The event has raised over $500,000 to date, and this year’s event attracted 10,000 people.

“San Diego has given us so much,” Foreman says. “Bro-Am is the most rewarding week of our lives. I’ve been given so much, it’s natural for me to give back to these kids who have been dealt a tricky hand. These are amazing kids who are dealing with all sorts of issues.”

In addition to his role in Switchfoot, Foreman still finds time for Fiction Family, the acoustic outfit that he fronts alongside Nickel Creek’s Sean Watkins. He has also become a columnist for the Huffington Post and writes about topics as wide-ranging as his backyard garden and inspirational civil rights leaders.

It’s set to be a great show! Don’t miss out…

JASON DERULO FORCED TO CANCEL ALL TOURING AND PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES

DUE TO NECK INJURY

Multi-platinum singer and songwriter Jason Derulo suffered an injury to his neck on Tuesday,

January 3rd, and has been forced to cancel all touring and promotional activities., including his

April Australian tour dates.

The 22-year-old Miami native injured himself while training for his upcoming World Tour in support

of his current album Future History, which was scheduled to commence in Glasgow on February

23rd.

While executing an acrobatic move, Derulo landed directly on his head, and suffered an acute

fracture to his vertebra. After being rushed to Memorial West Hospital in Miami’s Pembroke Pines,

FL, he was told by doctors that the accident could have left him paralyzed. Derulo has been

released from the hospital but must wear a neck brace for the next few months.

“To all my fans who planned to come to the Future History World tour, the pain of letting you down

cuts me way deeper than this injury I’ve sustained. My fans mean everything to me, so I’m praying

for a speedy recovery in order to perform for you in the near future.”

All ticket holders for upcoming shows can obtain a full refund.

All tickets purchased by credit card on-line through Ticketek or Ticketmaster will be automatically

refunded.

Tickets purchased by cash or EFT will be refunded at the point of purchase.

Michael Coppel Presents regret the disappointment for all Jason’s Australian fans and look forward

to him making a speedy and complete recovery.

David Crowder*Band, the GRAMMY-nominated, best-selling, award-winning group recognized by The New York Times as one of the “most thoughtful, progressive and exciting acts in contemporary Christian music,” releases its final album January 10, 2012. Give Us Rest or (a requiem mass in c [the happiest of all keys]) is a must-hear 100-minute set gathering 34 new tracks across two discs. You can find it everywhere you buy music today

The project manages to capture the departing band’s unique breadth of musical charms—worship, pop, rock, bluegrass, and electronic genres—while making a lasting poetic statement about how the end of one thing also means something new is born.

Worship Leader Magazine calls the album “the most complex, deliberate, expansive, majestic, ambitious, artistically progressive, musically engaging, thematically engrossing, and devotionally powerful ‘thing (they) have ever done.’”

JesusFreakHideout.com says “David Crowder*Band saved the best for last . . . expect from beginning to end to not just be listening to music but experiencing something divine.”

Crowd favourite, Damien Leith will take the stage at this year‟s Woolworths Carols in the Domain, spreading some Irish Christmas cheer. Damien joins a cast of Australia‟s favourite stars, David Campbell, Shannon Noll and fellow Irishman Brian McFadden.
“My children love Christmas and carols are a big part of the season. I am looking forward to performing some of my favourites to families across Australia,” said Damien.
Damien proved himself a useful dancer, hitting the dance floor on the eleventh series of Dancing with the Stars and collecting third place.
“It was a trip – excuse the pun – to do something so totally out of my comfort zone – but great fun,” he said of the experience.
2011 has been a huge year for Damien with the release on 23 April of his new album Roy, a tribute to the late Roy Orbison. The album was released to coincide with what would have been Roy‟s 75th Birthday. He performed Roy‟s hit „Crying‟ on Australian Idol, which came to the attention of Roy‟s widow Barbara who requested a copy of his rendition of her husband‟s song. His moving performance eventually led him to win Australian Idol and kick started his music career in Australia. It seems fitting that Damien have record a musical tribute to one of his idols.
“Roy Orbison, his soulful voice and dignified artistry, has touched millions of people across all generations becoming the soul of rock n roll. Today, I am very proud to pay tribute to a man whose work has had a direct and lasting influence on both my song writing and my singing,” explained Damien.
Damien was nominated for an ARIA this year for Most Popular Live Artist and this month stepped into a new role as host of the cooking show New Idea Test Kitchen.
“I love food and different cuisine from around the world but I lack any technique in the kitchen. Maybe I should stick to Carols and give the cooking a miss,” joked Damien.
You can follow Woolworths Carols in the Domain on both Twitter and Facebook.

“Light Up the Sky” will be played in the Dec. 6 finale of NBC’s mega hit “The Biggest Loser.” ABC’s new show “You Deserve It” has also been supportive of The Afters’ music using “Lift Me Up” in promotion for the program.

In addition to No. 1’s at both AC and CHR radio, both “Light Up the Sky” and “Lift Me Up” have been constant mainstays in the top 5 on the iTunes ® Christian and Gospel Songs Chart. “Lift Me Up” is still Top 10 at AC Indicator.

Texas-based band The Afters were propelled into the national spotlight with their INO/Sony Music Label Group debut I Wish We All Could Win. The project spawned the swirling, melodic hit “Beautiful Love,” earning the band an enthusiastic following when the song was selected as the theme track for MTV’s “8th and Ocean.” “Beautiful Love” was also the most downloaded track of 2006 on the iTunes ® Inspirational charts and garnered the band an mtvU award as well. The Afters’ sophomore release Never Going Back To OK (INO/Columbia Records) debuted in the Top 50 on the Billboard Top 200, and proved to be sensation on the silver screen with “Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC), “Dr. Phil,” “Army Wives” (Lifetime) and “Rachael Ray.” The band’s third record Light Up the Sky has bolstered two No. 1 radio hits, as well as placement in “The Biggest Loser” (NBC) and “You Deserve It” (ABC). A slew of media including Rolling Stone, Seventeen.com, E! News Live, TV Guide, Premiere Radio and more also picked up on covering The Afters.
